Aude Caving Cathar Country in Occitanie
Our Cacing sites are situated in Minervois, Corbières, or Haute Vallée de l’Aude near Carcassonne and Narbonne. There is, in the depths of these Massifs known for their wonderful landscapes, natural treasures of the underground world.
We find in these Massifs, introduction cavities accessible to the youngest ones (from 7/8 years old) as well as the most technical and varied abysses. We welcome groups starting from 4 people. If you are fewer people, it is sometimes possible to make you join another group regarding your availabilities.
Caving requires a good knowledge of the technique and the equipment used. You will leave with a qualified guide who is going to teach you the basics of this activity. This activity is before anything else convivial and accessible to all, far from its elitist reputation or even far from the claustrophobia evoked. After a first exploration of the cavities with horizontal or vertical progress we will help you to understand the techniques required for the progression. Speleology is a sporty activity but essentially a science which focuses on geology, underground water flows, fauna, flora and human activities in abysses and caves. Our goal is to present you safely and playfully this natural and cultural heritage.
According to where you live or where you stay, we can guide you on several sites :
Secteur Minervois (20 minutes away from Carcassonne) avec les Casals or grotte de Sallèles.
Secteur Corbières (30 min away from Narbonne) with les Gorges du Congoust.
Secteur Haute vallée de l’Aude (20 min away from Limoux ou 1H00 away from Perpignan) at the bottom of the Pyrénées with the cavities of Nantilla; Le Majestier,Sabarac.
DISCOVERY OF SPELEOLOGY IN THE AUDE DEPARTMENT
The Aude department by its diversified karsts -where limestone cover 30% of our department-, allows the discovery of the underground treasures and a wonderful historical trip back in time.
According to where you live or where you stay, we have several cavities to make you discover. We make half-day sessions of technical basics of this activity. Here, techniques with ropes are not compulsory, it will essentially consist in an encounter with this underground and horizontal environment that will seduce you. However, variables are possible to make this discovery a bit more complex if you wish.
Secteur Minervois:
Les Casals: Discover the relics of the bear that occupied this cavity several thousands years ago. Humans also occupied it not long ago ! A great family discovery.
La grotte de Sallèles allows an immersion in history and in extraordinary geological forms shaped since the dawn of time. You will learn, if you want, descending techniques with a rope and climbing on a speleology ladder.Anyway, these techniques are not compulsory for the discovery of this splendid cavity.
Secteur Corbières:
La grotte du Congoust is situated in the beautiful Gorges du Congoust. It is the main cavity of the Alaric mountain ? This cavity has a network of alsmost 1 kilometer. Here, water is still flowing and making erosion and offers a surprising trip with ow passages, meanders, steps and wells. Its layout allows to welcome any type of public and to try diverse techniques.
Secteur Haute vallée: Le Majestier:
Superb cavity by the River Des Guettes which shaped this preserved environment, a wonderful discovery with friends or family !
Grotte de Nantilla
This narrower cavity will solicit you more on the techniques in order to pass in narrow spaces, with, at the end, a nice reward with a cave endowed with numerous concretions. Accessible to all !

IMPROVEMENT SPELEOLOGY IN THE AUDE DEPARTMENT
We favour two Massifs : Les Corbières and Le Minervois to introduce you for a day to rope techniques, immersong you at the heart of the underground environment.
Do not worry, we will start in an horizontal environment before getting more progressive. It will last about at least 5 hours for most of the cavities here. We plan to picnic underground.
Le Grand Congoust
After an introduction in an horizontal cavity we will reach the main techniques concerning the climbing on a seleology ladder, and descending wells… With an underground picnic !

Introduction
WE PROVIDE YOU… A harness, a helmet, and the technical equipment for this activity.
DO NOT FORGET
A pair of trainers or boots. A change of clothing. Comfortable clothes. And a pull-over because even during Summer the temperature is around 13° ! A bottle of water.

From the age of 7/8 on the discovery cavities and 10/12 for the ones with vertical progression.
PRACTICE CONDITIONS
No contraindication to the practice of sports.

Puichéric is 20 minutes away from Carcassonne, 30 minutes away from Narbonne, 40 minutes away from Béziers, 1 hour 30 minutes away from Perpignan, Toulouse, Montpellier. Our second centre Eeaurizon Sud is in Axat, Haute Vallée de l’Aude. We send you a personalized itinerary to meet us on the sites.
