Herault Canyoning – Vialais Canyon – Caroux
The Vialais Canyon is situated in the splendid Massif of Caroux at the beginning of the Massif Central and at the heart of Natural Park of “Haut Languedoc” (in the area of St Pons de Thomières, Mons la Trivalle)
In order to fully appreciate this site, it is preferable to have already practiced canyoning (from the age of 12 with an adult). We leave for the day to do this canyon starting from the higher part of the Gorges and going down step by step.
Outfitted in a neoprene wetsuit, a harness and an helmet, you will cross the different obstacles of this canyon during about 2’30-3’00, swimming, jumping and abseiling (10 to
20m).
You will also have the opportunity to discover a superb environment with a walk to reach the canyon, which will drive us to the entrance of the nature reserve inhabited by mouflons.
This granitic environment at the heart of the splendid gorges will leave you unforgettable memories. To end the day, the spectacular Gorges of Héric are just 5 minutes away and deserve a visit !
The program includes :
Abseiling : 3 (1 of 20 meters)
2 toboggans : 10 meters
Jumps : 5 to 10 meters, non compulsory
Whitewater swimming
Total duration of the descent : 2’30 to 3′ of descent
Walk : 50 minutes to go, 45 minutes to return
Total duration of the activity : about 4’30

The Canyoning circuit :
After an enchanting walk to reach the canyon, we will come close to the nature reserve and with a little bit of discretion we could see mouflons. In a granitic environment we will alternate abseiling and jumping with the possibility for everyone to choose its level of difficulty. It is one of the more representative Canyons of this valley. For more conviviality, it is better to plan to do this canyon on the whole day, without any stress !
Duration of the descent of the canyon
The descent lasts about 2’30 to 3’00 and it takes about 1’40 walking to the canyon and return to the parking.
Practical level : Introduction, level 2, blue colour
Schedule : We generally suggest you to do it in the late morning to fully take advantage of this site
We provide you :
The integral noprene (5,5 mm) wetsuit, a harness and a helmet.
Do not forget :
a pair of trainers, a swimsuit, and some water

Duration of the descent :
To descend the Canyon, it lasts about 2 hours and a 50 minutes walk.

Practice Conditions :
You have to be able to swim 25 meters and be able to immerse yourself. No contraindication to the practice of sports. Let us know if you have any problem (back problems, important surgery..)
